List of Nigerians who won Africa's prestigious award

The 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) have come and gone.
African music’s biggest night of awards took place last night (June 18), with a number of entertainers getting honoured for their contribution to music on the continent.
Yemi Alade, Davido Psquare, AKA, Cassper Nyovest and many other superstars were happy winners on the night, as the bright lights beamed on them, and they received their gongs.
Nigeria, Africa’s biggest hub of music and pop culture represented in full force, picking a tidy seven awards.

Davido rules Africa as the 'Best Male Act'. 
Davido won the award as the best male artiste in Africa at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The Nigerian pop star was recognized on the night, beating Wizkid, South Africa’s AKA, Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz, and Ghana’s Sarkodie.



Yemi Alade: Winner, Best Female Artiste (MAMA 2015).
Yemi Alade has won the award as the best female artiste in Africa at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The Nigerian star was got announced on the night, beating Seyi Shay, Bucie, Busiswa and Vanessa Mdee.
This honour crowns a successful year for Yemi Alade, which has seen her catapult to the top of African music with her hit single ‘Johnny’, before capitalising on that to churn our more hit songs, and an album, King of Queens’.
MAMA 2015 'Artist of the decade' - P-Square. 
Psquare were the major winners at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
The duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, won two awards on the big night. They were recipients of the 'Best Group’ award, beating South Africa’s house sensations, Beatenberg, Kenya’s power musicians, Sauti Sol, and Angola’s B4.
They also won a non-voting category, ‘Artiste of the decade’, in recognition of their successful longevity at the top of African music.
This award adds more shine to a glittering career filled with many highs and few public lows. They have released 6 albums, 2 compilations, and featured some of the best in world music.
